When we created Sleepy Panda, the name was paramount. We knew we wanted something that captured the best feeling of motherhood- the inexplicable feeling of your child trusting you to be there for them.
And for us, that trust is shown in the embrace of a mother and a child. For most of us, that embrace starts right after your child’s birth, when that tiny baby is placed on your chest, and you meet that little person who will change your world forever.
Trying to capture that feeling in a name was like standing in a field of fireflies and trying to catch one. We went through name after name, but nothing really lit up until Sleepy Panda.
There’s a reason that people wait in line for hours at the zoo to see baby pandas. There’s also a reason that you can watch live feeds of those precious little animals. Watching those tiny little helpless creatures encapsulates the feeling of motherhood.
Anyone who has ever walked into afamily party holding a new baby has experienced much the same“panda” effect. People line up to see and coo at this brand new little human.
So while that sleepy little panda with the soft newborn noises and tiny little hands will grow up, those feelings and that trust will never go away. When the five-year- old has a nightmare and only wants you. When the seventeen-year-old goes through a break up and all the sudden isn’t too old for a hug. You will always be the Mama or Daddy of your sleepy panda.
